CricketEurope 2012 Irish Club Player of the Year Poll
Here are our six nominations for the Irish Club Player of the Year. If you haven't already done so, just make your choice and register your vote in the poll box on this page. Games included in the statistics given below are for provincial Senior League and Cup, and Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup matches.
John Anderson (Merrion)
The Merrion captain enjoyed success both domestically and internationally in a season where he made his debut for his adopted country. He scored 673 runs at 51.77 helping his side reach the final of the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup. In addition he took 20 wickets at 16.95 with his leg spin.
Bill Coghlan (Clontarf)
The 2012 season saw mixed fortunes for the Clontarf man, with his side winning the Senior Cup but also suffering the misery of relegation on the last day of the year. Coghlan scored 650 runs at exactly 50 making 6 half centuries and one hundred.
Ryan Haire (North Down)
The former Irish international has been one of the most consistent performers of the past decade and yet again enjoyed another prolific season. He scored 852 runs at 50.12 with six 50's and two centuries, with a highest score of 156. In addition he claimed 25 wickets at 24.36.
Paul Lawson (Pembroke)
The Pembroke off spinner enjoyed major success during the season and was instrumental in helping the Sydney Parade club gain promotion back to the top flight of Leinster cricket, as well as reach the final of the Senior Cup. In total he claimed 38 wickets at 13.97.
Junior McBrine (Donemana)
The 49 year old left arm spinner was yet again the leading wicket taker in NW cricket. He took an incredible 56 wickets at 11.18, with a best bowling analysis of 5 for 2. He also scored 534 runs at 38.14, making 3 fifties. McBrine was one of the pivotal reasons that Donemana claimed four trophies during the year.
Johnny Thompson (Brigade)
The 29 year old was prolific with bat and ball despite a relatively disappointing campaign by his club Brigade. His consistent performances saw him back on the international stage with Ireland A. He took 50 wickets at 15.12 with a best bowling return of 6 for 28, taking 5 wickets in an innings on three occasions. He also scored 803 runs at a healthy 44.61. He hit seven 50's and one century.
