CricketEurope 2012 Irish International Player of the Year Poll
Here are our six nominations for the Irish International Player of the Year. If you haven't already done so, just make your choice and register your vote in the poll box on this page.
George Dockrell
The left arm spinner, who recently won the Associate Player of the Year award took 37 wickets at a miserly average of 14.27 in the 25 games he played during the season. His fielding also continues to improve as he took 10 catches and made one run out.
Trent Johnston
The 38 year old continues to defy Father Time and played an instrumental role in helping Ireland qualify for the T20 World Cup. He played 27 times - bettered only by Kevin O'Brien. He captured 27 wickets at 22.56 with a best bowling return of 3 for 33. he scored 136 runs at 13.60, and took 8 catches and four run outs.
Ed Joyce
34 year old Joyce was remarkably consistent with the bat and played a pivotal role as Ireland beat Aghanistan in their crucial World Cup qualifier in Clontarf. The Sussex captain scored 681 runs at 35.84, with a highest score of 88 - one of five half centuries he made during the year. He also took 9 catches.
Kevin O'Brien
The Railway Union all-rounder didn't enjoy the same highs as 2011 but he still performed quite consistently. He scored 511 runs at 21.29 with a highest score of 58. In addition he took 23 wickets at 20.22 with a best bowling analysis of 3 for 24. Possessing one of the safest pair of hands in the Irish set up he took 14 catches and made 3 run outs.
Max Sorensen
The Hills all rounder made his debut in Kenya early in the year and played 21 games in total. He took 31 wickets at exactly 17.00 and had a best bowling return of 4 for 39. He also took 7 catches and made one run out.
Paul Stirling
The Middlesex all-rounder was Ireland's top scorer during the campaign making 741 runs at 32.22 - he hit 93 fours and 19 sixes during the season. A more than usefull off-spinner he also took 21 wickets at 19.43 with a best analysis of 3 for 20. He took 6 catches and made 3 run outs.
Gary Wilson
The Surrey batsman/wicket-keeper became the first choice glovesman for Phil Simmons during the year and was one of Ireland's most consistent players. He scored 608 runs at 27.64 and also took 18 catches and four stumpings.
