Fox Lodge v Drummond

12 May 2001

Fox Lodge won their second game of the season with an exciting 12 run victory over Drummond. Having been put into bat the Fox Lodge opening pair put on 43 before Mark Mooney fell lbw to pro Wasim Haider. Johnny Heywood was then joined by young Brian Allen and this pair had an excellent stand of 69. Brian Allen made 37 which included 3 fours and 2 sixes, and Johnny Heywood fell on 49 caught by Wasim Haider off Simon Dunn, an innings which had 9 fours.

From 143 for 2 Fox Lodge collapsed to 161 for 8 with Chris Moore being the man responsible capturing 4 wickets. It was left to a 9th wicket partnership of 39 between Adrian Heywood 21 not out and Trevor Anderson 17 to rescue the total. Chris Moore had figures of 4-35 and Simon Dunn 3-53. In reply Drummond had a terrible start losing both Gregory McDaid and Alfie Dunn for no score. Alastair Montgomery and Wasim Haider added 34 before pro Zahid Javed dismissed both and Simon Gray in addition to leave Drummond struggling at 44 for 5.

The crowd were then treated to an entertaining 122 run partnership between Chris Moore and Kieran Coyle. Moore scored 73 which had 6 fours and 4 sixes, and Coyle stuck 50 with 4 sixes and 3 fours. This looked to have won the game with only 15 needed for victory and four wickets intact, however they collapsed adding only a further 2 runs to leave them 12 short of victory.
