Sion Mills v Limavady

Barry Chambers, 9 June 2001

Limavady joined Donemana at the top of the table after a totally one sided encounter with bottom of the table Sion Mills. Sion had their problems before the game when Bobby Rao announced his retirement to leave them severely weakened. Batting first they collapsed to a disappointing 54 all out. Victor McDaid took 3-15, while it was part time bowler Mark McDaid who was the destroyer in chief with career best figures of 5-15 to demolish the Sion line up. Sanjeev Sharma fell for only one caught at slip by Decker Curry, and only opener Kieran Boyle with 16 reached double figures. Extras with 8 was the second top scorer.

In reply Limavady juggled their batting order and had no difficulty whatsoever in knocking off the required runs in under 12 overs. Ian McGregor enjoyed himself scoring 47 not out which included 6 fours and 2 sixes, and young Simon McMichael scored 10 not out as Limavady won by 10 wickets.
