Strabane v Sion Mills
Barry Chambers, 24 June 2001 Strabane came out on top in the Co. Tyrone derby when they inflicted a 7 wicket defeat on Sion Mills to leave them rooted at the bottom of the table. Sion Mills made 132 in 44.4 overs. Openers Jim McGranaghan and Kieran Boyle made 23 and 21, but it was former Indian Test player Sanjeev Sharma who top scored making 57. His innings contained 7 fours and he was the last player out well caught by Mark gillespie off the bowling of brother Peter. Marty Parkes with 3-19 was the best of the Strabane bowlers, and veteran Terence Patton took 2-28 in his 10 over spell. Strabane put on 63 before the first wicket fell with Keith Finlay being bowled by his namesake Lee for 19. John and Peter Gillespie then both fell to Sharma with the score on 71. John's 33 included 4 fours , while Peter made just 7. Mark Gillespie and Terence Patton Junior then saw Strabane safely home with an unbroken 62 run partnership. Mark made 33 which had 3 fours and 1 six and Terence made 20.
