Brigade v Sion Mills
Barry Chambers, 30 June 2001 Brigade's recent good form continued with a convincing six wicket win over bottom of the table Sion Mills. Batting first Sion could only manage to score 122 with former Indian Test star Sanjeev Sharma top scoring with 74 which had 6 fours and 2 sixes. There was two wickets apiece for Gordon Cooke, Wajahatullah Wasti, and Ivan Nicholl. Brigade lost early wickets with John Browne failing against his old club, and David Cooke and Graeme Moore going cheaply. Professional Wasti scored 29, and Gordon Cooke and Alan Rutherford both scored 30's to see Brigade safely home. The absence of Bobby Rao has certainly weakened Sion, and unless they improve drastically they look odds on for the drop.
