Strabane v Drummond
Barry Chambers, 14 July 2001 Dark horses Strabane had an emphatic win over an under strength Drummond side which looks as if it could be drawn into the relegation battle. Strabane made an imposing total of 250 for 7 with openers John Gillespie making 30, and Terence Patton Junior making 58 which included 5 fours. Peter Gillespie made an impressive 69 which contained 12 fours as the Drummond support bowlers suffered. Chris Moore took 3-45 and Paul Montgomery 2-29 while Wasim Haider bowled his 10 overs for 25 runs but failed to take a wicket. In reply the Drummond batting failed to make any impression on the total being dismissed for only 113. Of that Wasim Haider contributed an unbeaten 46 which had 2 fours and 1 six. Mark Gillespie had figures of 4-15 and professional Pavan Kumar 3-12 as Strabane emerged comfortable winners by 137 runs. Drummond now have a crucial encounter with Fox Lodge on Saturday.
