Fox Lodge v Bready

Barry Chambers, 29 July 2001

Bready continued their excellent season when they crushed a disappointing Fox Lodge side by 10 wickets in a totally one sided encounter. Batting first the home side struggled against the pace and movement of the Bready bowling with Roly Black being particularly impressive with figures of 3-16 in his ten over spell. Mark Olphert and Boyd Rankin had two wickets apiece as Fox Lodge scored 128 all out.

Professional Zahid Javed top scored with 28 which included 4 fours and 1 six but it was never going to be enough. Bready's opening partnership of Wian Smitt and Mark Olphert put on a sparkling display of batting as they passed the total in 22.3 overs. Smitt scored an unbeaten 75 which included 11 fours and 1 six and he nows tops the North West averages. Partner Mark Olphert made 46 not out including 7 fours and 1 six. Fox Lodge are now looking anxiously at the Senior One table and must quickly find the form that they had in the early part of the season.
