Sion Mills v Drummond

Barry Chambers, 29 July 2001

Another team looking worried is Drummond who threw away two points on Saturday when they let fellow strugglers Sion Mills off the hook. Sion Mills making first use of the wicket looked doomed at 49-7 with Brian Coyle and Chris Moore wreaking havoc. However thanks to 39 from Lee Finlay and 20 from Mark Lucas the home side managed to reach 119. Chris Moore took 3-23, Simon Dunn 3-24 and Brian Coyle 2-12.

In reply Drummond also found it a struggle to score runs as Mark Lucas and Sanjeev Sharma captured 3 wickets apiece. Indeed Sharma also took three superlative catches as Drummond were dismissed for 113, 6 agonising runs short. Brian Coyle with a spirited 33 nearly led them to victory but in the end they have only themselves to blame. They now have to play their remaining games against the top four sides in the league, so it won't be easy if they are to preserve their status.
