Limavady v Strabane
Barry Chambers, 29 July 2001 On Sunday champions Limavady once again marched to victory with a resounding victory over Strabane. Limavady made first use of the wicket and totalled a mammoth 291 for 7 in their 50 overs. Once again it was their inspirational skipper Decker Curry with 168 including 19 fours and 5 sixes - his 59th Senior hundred, who led the Limavady charge. He was well supported by Mark Mc Daid with 31, and brother Richard who made 27. Graeme Wells weighed in with a quickfire 24. Only Terence Patton escaped punishment as he took 2-27 in his spell, excellent figures given the nature of the game. In reply Strabane lost John Gillespie in the first over and never recovered. Peter Gillespie struck 9 fours in a quickfire 51 but he and brother Mark fell in quick succession to leave the score on 90-4. Professional Pavan Kumar struck an impressive 57 which had 4 fours and two massive sixes, and Gary Wallace blasted 32 but in vain as they were dismissed for 217, 74 runs short. Decker Curry took 3-20, Iftikhar Hussain 2-36 and Ivor Lapsley 2-5.
