North West Weekend Round-up
Ian Callender, 20 August 2001 DONEMANA were the only team to beat the weather yesterday and it was enough to return them to the top of the North West league. Back to back wins against Fox Lodge and Strabane put them level with champions Limavady who hammered Sion Mills on Saturday thanks to 117 from 116 balls by Decker Curry who then followed up with four wickets. The team left behind - two points in arrears with two games in hand - are Brigade who lost both matches to the rain, Saturday's game against Drummond called off the night before and yesterday's top clash with Limavady abandoned without a ball bowled just five minutes after the scheduled start. Brigade must now go into Friday's Irish Cup semi final at Cliftonville with only 13 overs of play in the last month and they have not bowled one competitive over. Donemana yesterday dismissed Strabane for 110, Ireland bowlers Jordan McGonigle and Gary Neely taking seven of the wickets and they won the game with more than six overs to spare by six wickets. Bready's outside chances of causing a surprise in the championship race had been ended by Strabane on Saturday and, in particular, Gary Wallace who hit the last two balls of the match for six.
