Donemana v Drummond
Barry Chambers, 25 August 2001 At Donemana the home side remained on course for at least a play off with a 5 wicket win over a relegation haunted Drummond side. Drummond fielded a very weakened team and managed to score just 168 for 8 in their allotted overs. Wasim Haider scored 46 which had 5 fours and 3 sixes before being trapped lbw by James McBrine for 46. Paul Montgomery hit 33 with 3 sixes and 2 fours, and Stephen McCloskey made a well played 25. Junior McBrine's excellent season with the ball continued with 3-26 and brother James took 2-25. Derek Corscadden got off to a perfect start bowling both William Porterfield and Roy McBrine to leave the score on 12 for 2. Brian Coyle then got in the act and dismissed Shaffique for 19 and Andrew Riddles for 25 to leave the game in the balance at 57-4. However the McBrine brothers literally smashed their way to victory with Junior making 59 not out which had 7 fours and 3 sixes, and James making 32 which had 4 sixes, as Donemana won with 5 wickets to spare.
