Sion Mills v Brigade

Barry Chambers, 9 September 2001

Sunday saw an almost identical repeat of Saturday's game as Brigade raced to victory to ensure a play off match for the title. Sion with nothing at stake played with little conviction and were dismissed for only 60 runs. Gordon Cooke continued his magnificent season with the ball taking 4-10 and Graeme Moore also bowled well picking up 4-16. For Sion only Mark Lucas with 17 managed to reach double figures.

It took Brigade only 15 overs to knock off the required runs, although they lost John Brown for 10 and Wajahatullah Wasti for 8 along the way, both falling to Mark Lucas. Skipper David Cooke finished unbeaten on 13 to continue his good form of late, and Alan Rutherford made an unbeaten 13.

The play off match will now take place on Saturday at Eglinton at 12 o'clock with Sunday being the reserve date. If the game isn't completed by Sunday the title will be shared.
