Strabane v Fox Lodge
Barry Chambers, 8 September 2001 Strabane made sure of 4th place in the table when they had a 31 run win over Fox Lodge at Strabane Park. They had earlier collapsed from 28-0 to 46-4 as Fox Lodge skipper Robert Huey took the wickets of Terence Patton Jnr for 14, Keith Finlay for 15, and the prize wickets of Peter Gillespie for 0 and brother Mark for 5. Family honour was restored however in the form of Michael and John Gillespie who had previously endured indifferent form throughout the campaign. They came good however with Michael making 48 which had 2 fours and 1 six before he became Huey's 5th victim. John managed to complete a deserved half century with 52 not out, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Strabane finished on 145-5 in their overs. Robert Huey finished on 5-41. In reply despite six Fox Lodge batsmen getting into double figures none was able to make the telling contribution which was needed with 21 from Malachy Porter being top score. Terence Patton Senior accounted for the openers, and Mark Gillespie dismissed Porter but thereafter it was 16 year old Tommy Barr who took 2 wickets and the unknown Declan McGonigle who gave a five star performance taking 5-32 as Fox Lodge were all out for 114.
