Ardmore v Killymallaght
4 May 2002
Ardmore showed their strength with a 7 wicket win over Killymallaght to bring them their first points. Killmallaght made a decent looking score of 155 with Richard Curry, nephew of Decker hitting 33. At 108-8 things looked bleak but Raymond Mitchell 23 not out, and Nigel Mc Keegan 20 staged a revival. Dessie Mc Court was again in the wickets with 3-31, and Mark Gillespie also took 3-25. Gerard Porter also took his first wickets for the club with 2-22. Ardmore decided to attack from the start and both Iftikhar Hussain and Kevin Martin scored 30 at better than a run a ball. Mark Gillespie scored an unbeaten 47 which had 6 sixes. Indeed Ardmore hit no fewer than 15 sixes in their score of 156-3. Paul Brolly returned from his operation to make 29 and brother Gerard scored 13 not out. |
