Killymallaght v Burndennett
13-14 June 2002

Burndennett joined Ardmore and Coleraine at the top of the table after they overcame Killymallaght and more importantly the inclement weather to win by 6 wickets. Batting first Killymallaght did well to reach 160 with once again Gareth McKeegan showing his undoubted talent top scoring with 34. Raymond Mitchell promoted to number three in the order also batted well making a fine 30. Best of the Burndennett attack was skipper Mark Roulston who returned the excellent figures of 4 wickets for 29 runs in his 8 over spell. Aidan Boyle and Gerard McAuley also picked up 2 wickets apiece.

In reply Burndennett were really struggling at 12 for 3 after Raymond Mitchell removed both openers Colm Pollock and Stephen McCay lbw for 6 and 0. Spare a thought though for Stephen McCay who in the original game had reached 93 not out before play was washed out. When Raymond Mitchell then caught professional Zahid Javed for 6 Burndennett were in deep trouble. They were rescued by two of their most consistent performers this year in Aidan Boyle and Gerard McAuley who lead them to the brink of victory. Boyle scored 46 which had 3 fours and 2 sixes, while McAuley was unbeaten on 61 which had 4 fours and 4 sixes. Boyle was bowled by Nigel McKeegan who only conceded 14 runs in his 8 over spell. Mark Roulston joined McAuley and he made 17 not out as Burndennett got home with 3 overs and 6 wickets to spare.
