Sion Mills recorded their first win in Senior Two with a welcome 21 run win over St Johnston. Their new professional Naveed Ashraf top scored with 39, and was well supported by Lee Finlay with an unbeaten 33, in their total of 109 for 5 in 20 overs.
The Saints were never in the hunt after Mark Lucas grabbed 3 early wickets, including that of last weeks centurion, Alan MacBeth. Marcus Alexander with 23 not out and Ian Gamble with 10 not out brought St Johnston up to 88 for 7, 21 runs short. Mark Lucas with 3 for 9 was the match winner for Sion.
In the other game which got under way in Senior Two, Crindle have scored 183 for 7 in their 40 overs. Nigel McElwee, who topped the Senior 2 batting averages last year, continued his good form with a superb knock of 93. This included no fewer than 15 fours and 2 sixes, and he reached his 50 in fifty balls. Alexander Steele offered him fine support with a well played 36 as the pair added 83 for the 4th wicket. Creevedonnell's Indian professional Sachin Aradhye bowled well having figures of 3 for 17. Creevedonnell have begun their reply and have scored 22 for 0 in 4 overs.
