Ireland Squad
- William Porterfield (captain)
Donemana & North West
Age 14. Left hand opening bat and wicketkeeper. He is making his third trip to Edinburgh in 3 years, having captained the Under 13 squad at last year's Fettes Festival. A solid, unspectacular accumulator of runs who played a key role in the North West's win in the recent Interprovincials.
- Neil Black
NICC & Northern
Age 15. Right arm medium bowler. A change bowler whose main attributes are his nagging line and length. Earned his selection by his performances for the NCU in the recent Interprovincial series.
- Mark Cleghorne
Muckamore & Northern
Age 14. Right hand bat, wicket-keeper. He missed out at Under 13 level after a couple of big innings in representative games. Has continued to improve in both facets of the game.
- Ross Durity
Cork County & Munster
Age 15. Leg spinner/left hand bat. A talented all-rounder who is the only Munster representative in the squad. Also had a fine series in the recent Interprovincials.
- Connor KellyBR>
CYM & Leinster
Age 14. Right hand middle order bat. A very promising stroke maker whose fine Interprovincial series just failed to capture the title for Leinster.
- Jonathan Neill
Cliftonville & Northern
Age 15. Right hand bat, right arm medium bowler. Played in the Fettes Festival with Ireland Under l3s in 1997. Since then he has improved immeasurably. His all-round ability and experience makes him an important cog in the squad.
- David O'Connor
Leinster CC & Leinster
Age 15. Another top and middle order batsman whose exploits in the recent Interprovincial series earned him selection in this squad.
- Richard O'Donnell
Old Belvedere & Leinster
Age 15. Right arm opening bowler.
Another from the 1997 Under 13 Fettes Festival whose progress is marked by this selection. He had a very successful tour in 1998 with Ireland Under 14s and is looking forward to returning to Edinburgh for this Under 15 competition.
- John Pryor
Malahide & Leinster
Age 15. Off spinner. Another newcomer to the international scene. He has worked hard to gain this recognition which was earned, like the others, by his performances at Interprovincial level.
- Boyd Rankin
Bready & North West
Age 15. Right hand bat, right arm medium bowler. A member of the victorious North West squad, Boyd played in last year's successful Under 13 squad. A hard hitting middle order batsman and a bowler of lively pace, his previous experience will be invaluable to the team.
- Andrew Riddles
Donemana & North West
Age 15. Right arm opening bowler, right hand bat. Yet another of the 1997 Under 13 squad who has progressed to this level. Last season he played and toured with both the Under 14 and Under 15 squads. One to watch for the future.
- Thomas Thompson
Glendermott & North West
Age 15. Right arm bowler, right hand batsman. Arguably the player of the Tournament in the recent Under 15 Interprovincial series where he played a significant part in the North West victory. His strike bowling and aggressive batting made his selection a formality. Another who has a big future in the game.
- Simon Wells
Instonians & Northern
Age 15. Right hand opening batsman. A stylish player with a fine technique who is gaining international honours for the first time. He has earned his chance with a series of impressive performances in the recent Interprovincials.
- Brian O'Rourke (Coach)
In his second year as Coach to the squad Brian is also the Leinster Cricket Union Development Officer. A former Under 19 and Irish Schools opening bat who has also played Senior Interprovincial cricket for Leinster.
