Third place match falls to the weather
Mid morning rain at Bangor caused the start of with the game between Guernsey and The Netherlands to be delayed to 3.15, with it reduced to a 34 overs per side contest. However, the rain returned early in the the Guernsey innings and, although the game continued in continuous drizzle, conditions eventually became impossible and after 29 overs had been bowled the players came off, never to return.
Guernsey were put into bat and started very aggressively with opener Robbie Le Corre going after the Dutch openeing bowlers, hitting 3 fours through the covers before Van Den Burg dismissed him for 15 when he tried to hit a full length ball over the top only to be caught by Van Den Brandelar at mid on.
The runs continued to flow quickly with the arrival of Tom Kirk at the crease and he blasted a very rapid 50 off just 33 balls, including 4 fours and one huge six over long leg. After his dismissal and the introduction of spin bowler Tewarie, the Guernsey run rate immediately slowed down. Wickets began to fall at regular intervals as the Guernsey batsmen tried to pick up the rate again in the later stages of the innings. At the end of the 29th over the umpires got together and agreed that the conditions had become too wet both overhead and underfoot, and were unsuitable to continue.
