The BA(G) management today announced a 3 match series against German state side Nord Rhein Westfalen to take place next season. The matches will provisionally take place on May 13, June 17 and July 22nd, with 2 of the matches being played at the Joint Headquarters of the British Forces in Germany at Mnchengladbach and the 3rd likely to be played at the newly created pitch in Bochum.
BA(G) coach Pat Legge said, "It's a great challenge, and after our 2 matches played over the previous 2 seasons it's time for us to raise the stakes. We have several Army U25 and many Corps standard players in Germany, and playing NRW over 3 matches will be a good challenge for us."
The first match in 2004 was won convincingly by BA(G) but NRW came back strongly in 2004. Nigel Keen, Chairman of NRW is pleased with the fixtures, "It's always a pleasure to play against the British Forces" he said, "With the state team acting as a feeder for the German National side it gives the players selected the ideal testing ground to see if they can play at a higher level, and the selectors the chance to see players who may potentially be in the reckoning for a berth in the European Championship team for Glasgow".
