Cricket Scotland has published its detailed Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended September 2005. The report is presented in a format which directly reflects the six headings of its Strategic Plan launched just over a year ago, with income and expenditure also shown under each heading.
In the year when Scotland became the first international team ever to hold two senior cricket trophies at the same time, Cricket Scotland made a small overall surplus of 15,958, compared to a loss of 38,000 the previous year.
Income amounted to 1,093,310 - the first time it has exceeded the 1m mark - and was 35% up on the previous year - thanks mainly to increased ticket sales resulting from the ill-fated (but insured) Scotland-Australia match, an increase in core grant from sportscotland, and increased commercial sponsorship from Lloyds TSB Scotland and the Caledonian Brewing Company, among others.
Expenditure at 1,077,352 was also up, by 27%, with nearly half of expenditure - 494,000 - attributed to high performance international activities which, with the important ICC Trophy, are not surprisingly prominent.
Cricket Scotlands chief executive Roddy Smith said: "Its been a fantastic year for Scottish cricket, on and off the field. But we are determined not to rest on our laurels, because there is still so much to be done.
"In particular, it is important that we build up our reserves because there will no doubt be frequent unexpected calls on our finances as we continue to make progress."
