A donation from International Test Scorer Dr Bill Frindall (MBE) is being auctioned online.
The item up for grabs is a unique radial chart of Brian Laras World Record Test Match innings of 400 not out achieved during the 4th Test of the W. Indies vs England at St Johns on 10-14th April 2004 against England. Lara opened day 3 of the 4th Test on 313 not out with partner Jacobs on 47 not out. Lara batted through 157 overs to avoid a W. Indies whitewash and save his captaincy. He achieved his world record on day 4, 12th April 2004 and then declared on 751 for 5, leaving England to bat through to a draw. England eventually won the series in the West Indies by 3-0 from a 4 Test series.
The chart, originally commissioned by The Times of London, is one of a limited edition. Printed in full colour on A4 card, each of the 400 numbered prints is accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate. On offer is No. 144.
The 215 lines (4 sixes, 1 five, 43 fours, 4 threes, 24 twos and 139 singles) are coloured to represent the damage inflicted upon Englands seven bowlers.
Mr Frindall, also known as the Bearded Wonder for his legendary knowledge of cricketing statistics, is well known for his generosity to charity. Our deepest thanks go to Bill for his most generous support.
