Christian Pedersen, who plays for newly promoted Aalborg, has decided on his own accord to spend the next two years in New Zealand on a Sporting Performance Course at the Sports Institute of Dunedin. Christian spent last winter in Australia and has become an improved cricketer but not yet good enough to break into the Danish national side, which is his ultimate goal.

Spending two years in New Zealand should however increase his chances although his club will not be pleased. Christian writes:

"Instead of just going to New Zealand to play cricket for Taieri I thought more worth while to educate myself while I was down there. I applied therefore to the Sports Institute of Dunedin where I have been accepted. I know the level of sport is higher than Im used to but Im quite convinced I will have no problems in keeping up as it is a question to getting used to the demands. Everything in conjunction with this trip I have organised myself including the finances although I have used contacts supplied by our professional coach in Aalborg, Jarred Waldron.

"The education itself means daily training schedule with running and workouts and of course, cricket. But besides cricket I will also be working with other sports as cycling, swimming ect. and also other subjects as physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, and mental training. Im quite sure this trip will be different than any other Ive been on and it will be my biggest challenge to date, but I am convinced I can make it and put what I learn in to some use when I get back. Im sure I wont regret this."
