The table below gives the unofficial CricketEurope rankings for the current top thirty batsmen in the six ICC High Performance Program countries (Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, The Netherlands and Scotland).
The rankings are based on players' performances in their last ten 'List A' and ICC Trophy games for their countries. These comprise
- one day internationals against Test countries and other HPP countries;
- Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy matches;
- ICC Trophy 2005 meetings among the six countries.
The ranking system takes into account
- the strength of the opposition (e.g., ODIs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka weigh more heavily than those against Zimbabwe or Bangladesh);
- runs scored by the batsman;
- the batsman's strike rate.
The recent poor form of some of the best-known names in Associates cricket is reflected by the low ranking (22) of Kenyan star Steve Tikolo, while Canada's John Davison doesn't even make it into the top thirty (currently he is ranked 51st!)
The table will be updated at the start of each month.
