Billy MacDermott:

"Great to have won the game, and all credit to the bowlers for their effort in the North second innings. Also our catching was important, we held everything. Yes, I'll admit it, my heart did jump for a second when David (Mauro) got out (first ball of the South run-chase), because there were so many ups and downs in the game, one minute we were in control, the next North were on top, but chasing such a low target it was realistically going to be very hard for North for come back again.

"Nice that after what is it, eight or nine years, that we have got a positive result, but overall I guess one would say the batting was a bit disappointing from both sides, something we all have to work on, as obviously for supporters and spectators the ideal is to have the game reach the afternoon of the third day, but that's cricket, and of course I am happy that South won, especially in the ICC Centenary year.

"It's a great honour to have been chosen Man of the Match for this game. There are excellent players on both sides, so I'm really pleased that I was able to produce a good personal performance for my team. I thought Diego (Lord) bowled brilliantly, and Gary (Savage) also had a good all-round game, so I'm glad they were recognised as well in the end."

Alejandro Ferguson:

"You can't really win three day games if the team only makes 60 runs when you bat, so it was disappointing we didn't make a bigger second innings score and make some pressure for South on the last day chasing a decent target. We honestly felt very confident going out that we were going to make a big total, but it just didn't happen.

"The partnership between Billy (MacDermott) and Casime in the morning was very important, but it also showed us that it was possible to bat for a long time and score some runs, so in a way it also gave us some confidence before we batted.

"South bowled well, but our batting was very disappointing, as we have the players to get in and make 50 or 100. But congratulations to Billy and South for a good win, and next year we just have to be better to beat them."

Grant Dugmore:

"A really interesting match even though low-scoring and finishing inside two days. The bowling and fielding was good, the batting disappointing. Perhaps puts into perspective Argentina's below-par performances in the WCL3 in January, as they certainly have the batting talent, but somehow lack the mental application to occupy the crease when necessary.

"Maybe this is a factor in many Associate and Affiliate teams, and shows how important competitions like the Inter-Continental Cup. Certainly I would recommend introducing some forms of cricket into Argentina that require batsmen to bat for long periods in the middle.

"All in all though, an enjoyable event, just like an enthralling Test can end in four days, this was absorbing and certainly not a game to take ones eyes off with so much happening. I am a great believer in multi-day cricket, and I am sure this historic fixture will be around for a very long time."
