USA Under-15 international Cameron Mirza played for Northamptonshire Under-17s in a match against a South African touring side at Oundle Cricket Club yesterday.
Mirza, 15, batted at five for the Northants side, made a composed nine runs out of his team's total of 167 before being trapped lbw to a good delivery. He also ran out one of the touring sides openers as the home side lost by six wickets.
Mirza was born and raised in New York and is the son of a Pakistani immigrant father and an American mother. He played for the USA Under-15 side in the Under-15 Americas Championship last year. He is in England as part of a scheme being run by former Essex player Ian Pont, who reported that the Northants backroom staff have been impressed by the youngster.
He plays a match for South Oxfordshire against Tring Park in Buckinghamshire tomorrow before he flies back home on Thursday.
