Bermuda , Canada and the USA all won easily on day two of the Americas Region U19 Championship . With two places available to the Global qualifier one of the three will soon feel the pressure and that could come as early as Wednesday when Bermuda tangles with the USA.
DAY 2 Results:
Game 4- Cayman Islands vs Bermuda.
Bermuda lead by Regino Smith (34) and Deunte Darrell (33) posted a modest but formidable target of 218 / 9 in their 50 overs. Cayman Islands in reply could only manage a modest 103 all out with Joshua Gilbert taking three wickets for 25 runs.
Game 5 Bahamas vs Canada
The Bahamas batted first but found the Canadian bowling difficult to get away and even though they defended well they were unable to force the bowlers off their line and were all out for 118. Orlando Stuart scored an impressive 31 for the islanders. Nitesh Kumar captured 3/18 while Riayzhan Pathan took 2/19 and Hiral Patel finished with 2/27. The Canadians were again impressive as their top order batting continue to give the team solid starts. Today it was Hiral Patel with another half century, his second in two matches that lead the reply with 71 runs. Hiral Patel was obvious pick for Man of the Match as Canada coasted to a nine wicket victory.
Game 6- Argentina vs USA
The USA was just as impressive with an easy nine wicket victory over Argentina. The boys from South America batted first and despite a fine innings of 35 by their skipper Alejo Tissera they were all out for a modest score of 116 in 34 overs. Talha Zamir with 4/21 was the top bowler for the Americans. In reply Ryan Corns scored an explosive 58 not out which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Yesterdays batting hero Henry Wardley had another impressive innings scoring 37 not out. On Day 1 we incorrectly described Henry Wardley as South African born. To set the record straight it is Ryan Corns who was born in South African while Wardley was born in New York but perfected his skills in Yorkshire, England. Regardless both of these batsmen give the USA a powerful batting line up that will be difficult to contain.
