Argentina's Under 13 team won its opening two games, against Brazil and Chile, in the second day of the inaugural South American Cricket Championship. In the first day, Chile had beaten Brazil twice, in 20 overs games. Today, at the Campo Deportivo Avelino Vieira, owned by HSBC, Argentina needs to beat Chile to claim the title. In the morning they will play Brazil, after which they meet the Chileans.
At mid-morning, after the pitch had dried after heavy night rain, Argentina opened the batting, posting 113 runs for one wicket. Gonzalo Husaín, from St. Alban’s, scored 49 runs, not out; his partnership with Martín Peralta adding for 98 runs. Brazil only managed 66 runs for eight wickets.
Against a far-more experienced Chilean XI, Argentina also batted first and got a respectable 78 runs for four wickets, with Ramiro Escobar getting 25 runs not out.
The Argentine bowling was decisive bowling Chile out for 55 runs in 17.1 overs. Leg spinner Ignacio Pizzo account for three of those wickets.
This Argentina XI is composed of players from St. Alban’s, Lomas Athletic, BACRC, Rosario Athletic, Belgrano Athletic and Bede’s.
