Bonds Glen lifted the first silverware of the 2011 season when they edged out Burndennett in a high scoring game at Magheramason in the Faughan Valley Senior Two Challenge Charity Cup. The game is a new innovation by the Derry Midweek League, with the winners of the Sperrin Springs Cup facing the Sam Jeffrey winners.
Bonds Glen batted first and racked up 153 for 7 in their 20 overs with Colin Hall top scoring with 34. There were useful cameos from Johnny Haslett (31*), Richard Rodgers (24), and Davy Robinson (23). Youngster Ross McCay was best with the ball for Burndennett taking 3 for 34.
In reply an opening stand of 75 between Ski McCay (38) and D Magee (29) gave Burndennett real hope, but David Curry (3-35) and Colin Hall (2-21) combined to restrict the Tyrone side to 141 for 7.
At Magheramason, Bonds Glen beat Burndennett by 12 runs.
