Ardmore joined St Johnston and Drummond at the top of what has been to date a fragmented Billy Henderson Properties Division 2 table on Tuesday night when the Bleachgreen side maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an easy win against Killyclooney.
Thankfully the rain held off long enough although it certainly wasn't a night for brass monkeys as the visitors were put in to bat by George Brolly. They started slowly in the conditions and despite Mark Gordon clubbing a few boundaries in making 26 the bowlers were pretty much on top in the first innings.
At 65 for 7 the contest looked to be heading for an early finish before a 40-run stand between Richard McMorris and Mark Snodgrass put a bit of life back into it. When they went however the brief resistance ended with Ardmore set 111 to win; Paul Brolly and Conor Brolly picking up two wickets apiece.
The hosts sent Adrian Murphy and Gerard Brolly out to open, the latter incidentally making his first appearance of the season as Ardmore were missing four regulars.
Murphy was aggressive from the off but assisted by some below par bowling and fielding it wasn't long before his opening partrner was joining in.
That pair looked set to seal the deal between them but no sooner had they posted a century stand than Brolly was caught at deep midwicket, giving Killyclooney their only success of the night.
Murphy was unbeaten on 60 at the end but both he and Ardmore will surely be posed more difficult questions than this one in the next few days as the joint leaders go to St Johnston on Friday night for another 20-over re-arranged game before their cup clash at Eglinton on Saturday.
