The weather took its toll of action over the weekend and the only game to go ahead involving Division 2 clubs was Sunday's league clash between Burndennett and Sion Mills.

Both sides went into the contest still searching a first win of the season and in the end it was the visitors who came away with the points.

Sion batted first and made 152 all out as Ryan O'Neill top scored with 30 while Johnny McGranaghan added 28.

Young Ross McCay claimed 3 for 16 and John Devine 3 for 23 as the struggling home side bowled reasonably well.

Unfortunately however they had no answer to Sion's Nigel O'Neill who returned match-winning figures of 7 for 26 as Burndennett came up 57 runs short.

It's back to the bread and butter of League action this coming weekend but only three games in store with title chasing Ardmore and St Johnston both without a fixture.

The first of the matches sees Killyclooney entertain Burndennett with both sides looking to record their first points of the season. The hosts have shown definite signs of improvement recently and Sammy McElhatton looks a very useful addition having helped his side progress in the Sperrin Springs Cup last week with an impressive 91 against Sion Mills.

James Colhoun, Mark Gordon and Alan Colhoun are others to have started well and the home side will see this as an ideal opportunity to get their season up and running. Despite their problems Burndennett have shown some signs of recovery and Stephen McCay was in inspired form for them last week in their narrow defeat at home to the Saints.

Much will depend on McCay if the visitors are to put a few wins together this season and despite this match being close to call you would have to say that Killyclooney will start favourites.

There's something of a local derby down the Kings Lane as The Nedd host Drummond in another contest that isn't easy to call. The visitors have been in great touch so far and look the real deal under Gordon Cooke having added in Graeme Anderson and Clive Rodgers from Ballyspallen.

Steve Moore and Craig Hartin have been among the runs and wickets as well and in a title race that looks wide open they must surely fancy their chances.

The Nedd are nobody's mugs themselves; Vinny O'Hara has added Martin and Dean Mehaffey to a squad including Kyle Morrow, Keith Burns, Creighton Wilson and Gareth Burns and young Jamie Millar is another player who could have a big future in the sport.

Surprisingly the Ballykelly side has started a little slowly given their quality but this is an ideal opportunity for them to show some intent.

The final game of the day sees Sion Mills, who recorded a first win of the season on Sunday, take on Creevedonnell who will hope to be in the promotion shake up come September.

Andy Lucas has been the star for the Tyrone side so far this season at has found support from Lee Finlay but as yet they have failed to improve on last season.

The visitors are a strong looking unit this summer and the addition of former Ireland bowler Gary Neely gives them serious options in attack.

Skipper Stephen Scroggie knows that he has the players available to him to keep pace at the business end of the table but that inconsistency has been their Achilles heel in the last couple of campaigns. The visitors should have too many guns for the Mill men on this occasion.
