Eglinton blew a golden opportunity to join the chasing pack at the top end of the Billy Henderson Properties North West league on Wednesday evening when a middle and lower order collapse allowed Bready to claim the points in a tense affair.

The hosts had posted a competitive 186 on Monday night courtesy of 49 from Brian Scanlon and 32 from Ian Young whilst Ryan Butterworth (3 for 21) and Richard Wylie (3 for 30) were best with the ball for Andy Christie's side.

Conditions were hardly ideal for either team when battle was re-joined after Tuesday's play was washed out but the villagers seemed to adapt best early on.

Skipper Christie and Chris Pierce looked comfortable on the slowish track but Bready didn't wait as long to throw the ball to Marc Fleming this time and the youngster broke the partnership with his first delivery.

Fleming was to account for both openers; Pierce making 30 and Christie 24 but when Karl O'Doherty and Ryan Butterworth moved the visitors on to 141 for 2, few would have given Bready a chance.

The Zimbabwean was out having made 31 however and his dismissal turned the game in spectacular fashion.

Despite O'Doherty making a patient half century, no-one else got near double figures as Eglinton's last 7 wickets added just 35.

Sabir Ali claimed 3 for 23 and Fleming and David Scanlon picked up two wickets apiece as Bready held their nerve for a 10-run win.
