Thankfully the rain stayed away on Wednesday evening to allow unfinished business in both divisions of the Billy Henderson Properties league carried over from Tuesday to be concluded on schedule.

Limavady needed cheering up after a fairly difficult couple of days and the Roesiders got the better of struggling Glendermott to move to within 2 points of Strabane with a game in hand ahead of the two sides' clash at the Hunter Grounds this weekend.

The hosts were 109 for 4 after 14 overs when the weather intervened on the previous evening after Adnan Akmal had posted another half century, and an unbeaten 32 from Mark McDaid and 26 from Stuart Thompson helped them to 159 for 5 in their 20 overs.

A solid partnership between Roy Silva who made 41 and Stephen Smyth (23) saw the Rectory side threaten briefly at 80 for 2 in reply before the father and son team of Nigel Thompson (4 for 36) and Stuart with 2 for 19 turned the game back Limavady's way.

Wickets fell as the run rate increased and despite a defiant 33 from Bob Robinson, Gordon Montgomery's side's poor recent run continued with a 20-run defeat.

In Division 2 it is now very definitely advantage Ardmore in the promotion race after St Johnson came up short against The Nedd at Ballykelly.

Kyle Morrow was in sparkling form as he smashed 6 sixes and 3 fours on his way to 64 while Alex Steele hit 4 sixes and 2 fours in adding an unbeaten 43.

Mike Ryan claimed 3 for 37 for the Donegal side as The Nedd made a very competitive 165 for 4 in their 20 overs.

The visitors batting was rarely on top in reply and although Andrew Fleming made 25, David MacBeth 24 and young Michael Rankin 22 not out, they were still 15 runs adrift at the end.

Johnny Murray, Creighton Wilson and Johnny Young all claimed a brace of wickets in a very impressive display from the Kings Lane men.
