Conditions on Saturday were again idyllic as Bready set out to build on their lead but there was to be no fairytale for Rankin this time as Graeme Boyd took a peach of a catch at backward point to give Donemana the start they had hoped for.

The big opener had made just 14 when he became Sajid's fifth victim of the match and it got better for Donemana shortly after that when Brian Scanlon was removed by McGarrigle for 18 to leave the board 44 for 2. Professional Sabir took a nasty rap on the thumb from the same bowler at the start of his innings as the match was held up for several minutes to allow treatment as Bready found runs much more difficult to come by second time around.

Sabir didn't look affected by his injury mind as he was able to take the pressure off with several much needed boundaries and eventually both men began to let the handbrake off. The game swung again as Sabir tried to bring up his half century with a big hit off Jordan McGonagle but succeeded only in skying one to Ritchie McBrine.

The professional's 46 contained 7 fours but Donemana's tails were up again as the other first innings centurion, Brian Crumley, made his way to the middle. Clarke and Crumley then looked to consolidate the middle overs and the former reached his 50 from 108 balls as Bready went into the last ten on 157 for 3.

Trevor Hamilton's side was always going to pump it up in the latter stages with wickets in hand and Clarke was caught on the boundary for a well played 56 as the pace increased. Crumley remained in good touch adding 42 as the Magheramason side then started to really cut loose. Mark Olphert with an unbeaten 38 and James Long (19 not out) heaped the misery on Donemana late on and in the end the total was 251 for 5 meaning that if the cup was to go back to the Holm, Richard Kee's men had to find 307 runs.

Donemana signalled their intent to give it a go as Kamran Sajid and Dwayne McGarrigle were sent in to open the innings. The pair had posted 42 when the latter mistimed a pull shot off David Scanlon and Agha Sabir took the catch bringing skipper Richard Kee to the middle.

Kee and Sajid managed to keep the Holm side up around the required rate and entertained the big crowd with some meaty blows to the rope. Just as they looked like getting their team back into it however, Sajid was again undone by the slow stuff, Trevor Hamilton having him in all sorts of trouble before bowling the Pakistani off his inside edge for 47.

In the very next over Adam Warnock bowled the Donemana skipper for 34 and the game looked up and even a missed opportunity to remove Ricky-Lee Dougherty wasn't going to de-rail Bready. Warnock was used very sparingly in the first innings despite costing just 14 runs from his 3 overs but he showed in the second innings why he got the nod with a composed spell.

The youngster was also involved in Dougherty's dismissal soon after when picking up a smart catch at fly slip as Bready sensed that their 15-year wait was about to end. Junior McBrine was still there however and with Graeme Boyd the Donemana stalwart eased their side back to within touching distance with some sensible batting.

The required rate was soon up around nine an over by now and in the chase for boundaries, Junior was caught off the bowling of Marc Fleming for 29. Fleming then took the catch that ended Graeme Boyd's innings of 27 and when James McBrine was run out and Ritchie then stumped soon after, Bready were able to come home in their own time.

To be fair to them the new cup winners bowled very well as a unit and while Donemana will lament the loss of their Under-19's, they were second best over the weekend and can have few complaints. And as Bready's long wait ended, the natives got set to celebrate a richly deserved cup triumph with a party that is probably still going on now.

At Eglinton, Bready beat Donemana by 69 runs
