Ardmore's promotion hopes were dealt a serious blow this week after Killyclooney pulled off a spectacular 1-wicket win over George Brolly's side despite having played second fiddle for most of the two nights.
The visitors batted first and no prizes for guessing that their innings revolved around Adrian Murphy, the West Indian making 81 of their 232 for 9 in the 40 overs. Gerard McAuley and Phil Patterson chipped in with 27 each and Paul Brolly made 26 while the hosts' attack was led by Richard Barr who claimed 4 for 45 supported by Mark Gordon who took 2 for 30.
The Bleachgreen side will probably have felt they had enough, particularly after a good spell from George Brolly reduced Killyclooney to 28 for 4 in reply before a magnificent knock from Alan Colhoun turned the game on its head on night 2.
Colhoun smacked 13 sixes and 7 fours in his 123, his innings lasting just 70 balls in total as the Bleachgreen side couldn't find a way past. Even when they finally got their man however, Richard Barr's late 23 was enough to allow the hosts to carve out an unlikely win and condemn Ardmore to their fourth reverse in their last six league games.
Skipper George Brolly's 5 for 37 and a couple of wickets for Lee Brolly were all in vain as Creeevedonnell now take over as title favourites.
