THERE are two enormous games at either end of the Henderson Properties Senior One table this weekend.
After beating Bonds Glen on Wednesday night in their 20 overs rearranged clash, defending champions Strabane know they must defeat joint leaders Brigade tomorrow if they are to maintain a realistic hope of retaining the title.
The big game on Sunday is the clash of the bottom two teams, Eglinton and Bonds Glen, where it seems all but certain that the winners will be playing Senior One cricket again next season and the losers will be back in Senior Two - unless the North West come into line with their counterparts in Leinster and the NCU and go down to an eight-team top division.
Neither of this seasons strugglers can be expected to win their last two games - the Bee Gees at home to Strabane and away to Bready, while Eglinton host Brigade before travelling to Fox Lodge. So it really is winner-take-all at the international and cup final venue on Sunday.
At the business end, Strabane have the easiest run-in but it is Limavady who have the destination of the title in their own hands.
By the time they play Strabane on the scheduled last Saturday of the season (September 3), the trophy could already be guaranteed a resting place at the John Hunter Memorial Grounds because the Roesiders have still Glendermott, tomorrow at The Rectory, Brigade and Bready, twice, to play and four wins will put them out of sight of the chasing pack.
They have been helped by being awarded two points for the non-appearance of Donemana two weeks
ago - although I understand the Tyrone side are appealing that decision - but as it stands Limavady, now level top with Brigade with a match in hand, are in pole position - even without the almost forgotten Decker Curry for the last two months of the season.
