There may not have been a lot at stake at Magheramason on Tuesday evening but that didn't stop Bready and Fox Lodge serving up a thrilling contest in their T20 league match.
The visitors were first in and Mark Mooney with 31 and Darry Brown with 30 did best as they posted a fairly moderate total of 119 for 7. Agha Sabir Ali's 2 for 15 was the pick of the home attack but there was excellent support from David Scanlon (2 for 20) and Trevor Hamilton (2 for 23).
Bready's reply started really poorly as a good opening burst from Gareth Heywood and Darryl Brown saw them reduced to 16 for 4.
Sabir though was in good touch and despite wickets falling steadily at the other end the Bready professional stood firm as he posted a half century. Joined by Mark Fleming in the final over the pair got down to the last 2 balls with Bready needing three to win and Fleming clubbed the first of them to the boundary to seal the victory.
Heywood (2 for 11), Brown (2 for 19) and Andy Britton (2 for 16) all bowled very well for the visitors despite their effdorts being in vain.
In Division 2, Ardmore kept their interest in the title race alive with an 8-wicket win over Burndennett at the Bleachgreen. The visitors had posted 108 all out in their innings on Monday evening, Johnny Devine with 31 and John McCormack (20) doing best for them while Paul Brolly (4 for 26), Ryan Brolly (3 for 13) and Lee Brolly (2 for 13) claimed the honours with the ball.
Adrian Murphy hit 5 fours and a six in his 49 and Paul Brolly added 24 as Ardmore closed out the win with just an over to spare on Tuesday night.
