"HAMMY" HANGS THEM UP AFTER FINAL LEAGUE BOW

Bready's senior cup winning skipper Trevor Hamilton has announced that he will finish his playing days this weekend after the Magheramason side's 20/20 league match against Bonds Glen.

Citing a number of resons for his decision Trevor insisted that the fact that the future of the club is in good hands eased the call for him. "I've been playing first team cricket for 22 years now and the demands on time aren't getting any less" he told CricketEurope. " I have a young family and I feel that I need to be spending more time with them, therefore I wouldn't be able to commit fully to playing.

"As well as that I have been refereeing in local football for a few years now and I hope to get an opportunity to progress a bit further in the not-too-distant future. I turned down an opening last year to fast track towards Irish League level but maybe the time is right now. Marc Fleming has come into the first team this season and has done really well and that has made my decision that bit easier. I'll still be around of course and will help out wherever I can and I'm delighted to be bowing out on a high after our double cup success this season".

Trevor is part of the 7-man "think tank" appointed by the North West to examine ways of moving the game forward, that committee meets for the first time tonight but for now there will be plenty wishing him well on the back of his decision to hang up the boots.
