Glendermott were another side to experience a real up and down season as Gordon Montgomery's men were unable to make any type of meaningful challenge in any of the senior competitions.
At one stage it looked as though the Waterside outfit may be about to be dragged into the relegation scrap before a decisive win over Eglinton moved them on to 10 points and relative safety.
Such was their end of season form however that that was their only win in their final 6 games and the skipper will have been relieved that they had those early season points in the bag.
It's difficult to pinpoint why Glendermott were quite so uncompetitive this year but no doubt that their key men, Stephen Smyth and Craig Averill were much less potent this season than last. Smyth scored less than half of last season's runs, just over 500 although his average wasn't bad at over 34 but Averill didn't make the qualifying target.
Roy Silva started very slowly but then picked up the pace mid season, an unbeaten double century in their huge win at The Holm helping the Sri Lankan over the 1000 mark at an impressive 52 a time. Bob Robinson had a decent season making 469 for an average of 26 while Simon Killen did a very good job at the top of the order adding 333 runs.
Glendermott's bowling was light this season; no replacement for Gary Neely and with Peter Gibson unavailable for selection the void showed.
Rodney Pearson missed the early part of the season through injury and Smyth bowled very little too so the pickings were sparse. Silva topped the charts here as well, 36 wickets for the professional although not overly cheap at 22 runs each while Averill did better with the ball claiming 30 at less than 24.
Charlie Elder took 22 and skipper Montgomery 21 but its fair to say that the Rectory side rarely showed a cutting edge. Despite rumours to the contrary the club has confirmed that they have already agreed terms with Silva for 2012 and their man showed enough in the circumstances to suggest he was worth another look.
Quite how they build a team around him remains to be seen and the situation with Smyth and Averill in particular looks unclear.
Things are rarely quiet around Bonds Street in the winter months and it is fair to expect more of the same as the nights start to shorten.
