The Woodvale Indoor Cricket Sixes sponsored by Boom Boom Cricket makes a welcome return to Shankill Leisure Centre on Sunday the 15th January with 6 sides entered for what promises to be a fun packed tournament.

At the launch: Woodvale's Leslie Irwin and Simon Johnston  with John Kerstens for sponsors BOOM BOOM.

Indoor Cricket remains one of the unearthed cricket development opportunities and the tournament hopes to provide recreational, pre-season cricket whilst providing coaching opportunities each week for local youngsters in the area to introduce them to the sport.

Last year Senior League champions North Down CC entered a side and it is hoped that more senior teams come onboard as the tournament develops. The organising committee plan to develop the sport and are already seeking other facilities and interested club sides throughout N Ireland to express an interest in indoor cricket.

Woodvale CC as organisers would like to thank Belfast City Council for providing Support for Sport funding for the tournament whilst also thanking Boom Boom for their sponsorship and support. Woodvale member and tournament organiser Mr Ray Palmer commented “It is fantastic to yet again have the only indoor cricket tournament of its kind in Shankill Leisure Centre each Sunday from January to March 2012. Last year was a huge success and we as organisers are keen to support the game by providing indoor cricket pre-season to as many clubs as possible. I would like to thank Belfast City Council and sponsors Boom Boom Cricket for their generous support this year.” More information on the tournament and scheduling of games can be found on the Woodvale CC website : www.woodvalecricketclub.com

Sponsors Boom Boom commented:
"It is a great pleasure for BOOMBOOM Cricket to be associated with this very special event as tournament sponsors. This year sees a very interesting development in as much as we are working with the organisers Woodvale C.C. to create a first in Europe for the indoor game. BOOMBOOM have developed a unique fibreglass bat that is a mirror image of a traditionally shaped willow cricket bat but with a slightly lighter pick up and increased balance to help make the game more exciting a potentially faster paced. All the competing teams will be using the same bats so no advantage will be gained by any player over another – it should prove to be an interesting tournament and again shows the innovation being brought to the game by the world’s fastest growing cricket brand.

"BOOMBOOM Cricket continues to go from strength to strength in all areas of the game whether it is the development of traditional bats for the new formats of T20 with extra large sweetspots but with impeccable light pick ups and feel or the ground breaking new pads and gloves retailing at just Ł20-30 offering all levels of cricketer the opportunity to use the very best protection but at very affordable prices. In addition a whole new range of Bespoke cricket teamwear is available from specially selected retailers that offers teams the opportunity to create their own personalised playing and training wear at very acceptable prices."
