New league for Primary schools launched in Leinster

A new Primary Schools competition was launched this week in Leinster involving six schools who had previously played in the increasingly popular Leprechaun Cup.

The competition will give these schools weekly competitive games played at a high standard and will no doubt gear the players up for progression to secondary school or club cricket later in the summer.

The selected, more developed cricket playing schools are eagerly awaiting this new league and offers a further example of how the game is progressing at a rapid rate within the province.

Kevin O’Brien, who helped launch the new ‘Super League’, is excited with the new developments. ‘This new league will offer weekly games for over 70 young Leinster cricketers during the April and May period. With the Leprechaun Cup feeding schools into this new league it will become a strong competition and will provide local clubs with further talent to work with and to bring through their youth set-ups. I look forward to attending some of these games in the coming weeks’.
