WOODVALE

The exciting addition of 20 year old Australian Lochlan Christian is ure to create a real buzz around the Ballygomartin outfit. The middle-order batsman has scored some handy runs in grade cricket but is primarily a medium-quick seam bowler. he's looking forward to playing in Ireland having spent last season in England.

He told the Woodvale website of his hopes for the approaching season: " I want to give Woodvale another member of the team, give them an outside perspective, not change the club, because every club has character but improve the club adding my own zest. I want to improve my own game by learning how to control and adapt in different circumstances, being able to read the game and process an answer. I want to score my first 100 at Woodvale as I have scored too many 50's."

Woodvale captain Stephen Bunting told CricketEurope: "With the addition of  our new professional we are looking to build and strengthen a fairly youthful squad with the introduction of a development squad night ran by Lochlan.

"Looking back at last season we're looking to right some wrongs and become a more consistently winning side and shake off our under achievement."

Last year Mark Irwin put some grinding performances and was rewarded for his contributions with both bat and ball for the 1st and 2nds.

Stephen Bunting looks to become a more consistent player with bat and ball and led from the front.

Simon Johnston and Paul Robinson are two key players in the side with the latter receiving player of the year for the previous three seasons. Robinson's a proven match winner with both bat and ball, and has the ability to turn any game.

With Johnston at the top of the order and Robinson solidifying the middle order, Woodvale have a solid foundation for their youthful side to shine, with success a distinct possibility particularly if Lochlan Christian hits the ground running.
