SCOTLAND bosses may be ready to fast-track new recruit Ruaidhri Smith into the senior set-up.

The Glasgow-born Glamorgan teenager was drafted into the national U19 side last month after his Scottish roots were revealed.

All-rounder Smith responded by hitting a match-winning debut century during a tour match in South Africa.

Now the national selectors may include the 17 year-old in next week’s Scotland Lions clash with Warwickshire.

Despite his heroics with the bat, Smith’s potential as a pace bowler could swing selection in his favour given the absence through injury of new-ball pair Safy Sharif and Gordon Goudie.

Scotland’s stretched bowling resources mean that Aberdeenshire’s Tyler Buchan is likely to earn another chance to impress in the three-day encounter with the Bears.
