Senior League (Lewis Hohn Williams)

Division 1 was won by Railway Union for the 3rd time (last time back in 1962) after being runners up for the 2 previous years. North County finished runners up for the 1st having been winners 5 times in the previous 8 years). The two teams to be relegated were Phoenix and Pembroke, the two who had been promoted in 2010.

In Division 2 Terenure won for the first time and were promoted for the 3rd time together with Leinster (who were promoted for the 3rd time) to Division 1 for 2011. Old Belvedere and North County 2nds were relegated from Division 2. Leinster 2 won Division 3, and this time, unlike in 2010, they were promoted as Leinster 1 had been promoted to Division 1.Dublin University was promoted to Division 2 along with Leinster 2.

After the end of the season when a decision was made that matches in both Divisions 1 and 2 would be played on the same day, The Hills 2, who had retained their position in Division 2, decided that they would wish to play instead in Division 3. As North County 2 took the same decision when discussions took place as to which of the relegated clubs might be promoted back to Division 2, Old Belvedere reclaimed their position ion Division 2 for 2012

Senior Cup (Lewis Hohn Williams) Merrion won the Cup for the third time (last win was in 1967) with the narrowest of wins, beating North County (runners up for the 5th time) by 1 run in the final in a match that saw 543 runs scored. This was North County's fourth defeat in the last 6 finals. The Cup Final was held in Malahide, the 5th time to be played there. This was the first major match to be played on the newly laid ground in Malahide.

The 2012 final will be held in Y.M.C.A. C.C., Claremont Road.

NEAR 90.3 FM Alan Murray Cup. This was the seventh year of the new format Alan Murray Cup. The finals day was held at North County C.C., Inch and Clontarf defeated Leinster in the final. The defeated semi finalists were Pembroke and Railway Union.

For 2011 the finals day will take place in Phoenix C.C. Phoenix Park.

Marchant Cup The runs qualification for the Marchant Cup in 2011 remained at 600. The winner was Andre Botha (Terenure) who won it for the third time with 759 runs at an average of 69.00. He is only the second player from Terenure to win the Marchant Cup, the previous one being M Tucker in 1981.

There were two other players who qualified for the Marchant Cup in 2011. These were John Anderson from Merrion and Tom Fisher from Railway Union..

O'Grady Cup The qualification requirement returned to 30 wickets. 4 in all reached this figure but of those only 2 were eligible for the Trophy. The winner was David Langford-Smith (Phoenix), who returned to his native Australia at the end of the season, with 35 wickets at an average of 14.80. He previously won the cup in when he was the last Phoenix player to win it. He also won the Solomons Cup this year and was the Players Player of the Year. The runner up for the O'Grady Cup was Dominic Joyce of Merrion with 33 wickets at 18.12.

Samuels Cup Dominic Joyce (Merrion) having finished as runner up in the O'Grady Cup, went one better by winning this trophy for the first time. He was in fact top of the list followed by Josh Reeves (North County) who was runner up in the Marchant Cup, Andre Botha, (Terenure) winner of the Marchant Cup, and John Anderson, (also of Merrion). Last Merrion winner of the Samuels Cup was B. Spanner in 2002 .

Hopkins Cup The winner of the Hopkins Cup was Paul Tweddle of Malahide in his first season in Leinster Cricket. It was a very tight struggle between Paul and Rohit Bahl of Pembroke., For some 6 or 7 weeks coming toward the end of the season they were locked together, with neither able to edge ahead. Then Rohit was injured and Paul nudged ahead to finish with 29 victims (21 ct and 8 st) which saw him end up 4 ahead of Rohit who had 13 ct and 12 st.The last winner from Malahide of the Hopkins Cup was Dara Armstrong in 1998. Solomons Cup Winner of this Cup in 2011 was again David Langford-Smith (Phoenix). He retained the cup with 14 catches as compared to 10 in 2010. This year he was top of the list and there were none above him who were not qualified to win the cup. David did the double of O'Grady Cup and Solomons Cup.

BATTING

No batsman reached 1,000 runs in 2011. The highest aggregate was 780 for John Anderson (Merrion).

Runs scored at 46,326 were up just under 5,400 as compared with 2010. Average runs per wicket of 24.70 was 0.31 higher than the figure for 2010. Same number of matches were scheduled for 2011 as in 2010 but 10 were no results as compared with 5 in 2010. There were 31 centuries scored in all, an increase of 1 from 2010 figure.

A.C.Botha (Terenure) scored his 24th century to become the highest ever scorer of centuries in Leinster cricket with 24. The previous record was 23 held by M.A.Masood and J.P.Bray

200 Partnerships 2 double centuries in 2010, same as in 2011. Conor Armstrong and John Mooney of North County added 201 for the third wicket against The Hills at Inch in Division 1. C Geraghty and Jimmy Govan of Malahide added 211 for the 3rd wicket in Diision 2 against Leinster at Malahide.

BOWLING Leading wicket takers for the season were David Langford Smith and David Petrie, each with 35, same figure as for last year. Wickets taken at 1,875 were up 196 as compared with 2010.

There was 1 Hat Trick in 2011, the same as in 2010. Jimmy Govan took 4-7 v The Hills 2 at Malahide to end the Hills 2 Innings.

Best bowling return of the season was 8-49, achieved by Mark Dwyer (The Hills) against Clontarf at Castle Avenue. 5 Wickets in an Innings was taken on 20 occasions, as compared with 15 in 2010. ALL ROUNDERS In 2011 no player reached 500 runs and 50 wickets. No player achieved 50 runs and 5 wickets in a match, again this was the same as in 2010.

WICKET-KEEPING

5 dismissals in an Innings was achieved once in 2011 as compared with none in 2010. This was by D Casey for North County 2 against Malahide at Inch.

FIELDING

No fielder took 5 catches in an innings in 2011 as compared with one in 2010.

APPEARANCES

Of those who actually played in 2011, the player with the most appearances in Senior Cricket is Alan Lewis (Y.M.C.A.) with 471.
