Arbroath v Forfarshire

ARBROATH are aiming to mark the start of their 125th anniversary celebrations by claiming a quick fire double victory over Angus rivals Forfarshire.

The sides square up at Lochlands today in the Eastern Premier Division - and again tomorrow when the Lichties stage their special T20 tournament at the same venue, which also features Dundee HSFP.

Host president Geoff Fisher said: "It is a very special year for the club - and beating Forfarshire would be the icing on the cake!

"We are looking forward to the competition, and also to the other big celebration event at the end of the season when we take on a Cricket Scotland Select."

Arbroath are still without opening batsman and spinner Ross McLean, who needs a further week to shake off the effects of an ankle injury.

Shire skipper Craig Wallace is ready for the challenge. He said: "Lochlands is a great place to play and the games against Arbroath are usually tight and competitive.

"At last we have a promising weather forecast and we are keen to get into action."

The Broughty Ferry brigade are without experienced seamer Graham Quinn, who has a back problem.

He is replaced by Dale Sweeney.

Carlton v Stoneywood-Dyce

Carlton will be without international all-rounder Preston Mommsen for the home tussle with Stoneywood-Dyce - and coach Toby Bailey is delighted.

Mommsen was called up by Leicestershire for their County Championship encounter with Kent at Canterbury, with Bailey insisting the club should share the honour.

He said: "It is great news for Preston and great news for Carlton, coming so soon after Ally Evans earned a deal with Derbyshire.

"Preston fully deserves his chance to play county cricket. He's a model professional and trains extremely hard. Everyone at the club wishes him every success."

Carlton will also be without Jamie Kerr and Stevie Gilmour, so in come Kyle Macpherson, Matt Wells and Cheeky Gosain.

Watsonians v Heriot's

Heriot's suffered one of the most humbling defeats in their history at the hands of Stoneywood-Dyce last weekend at Aberdeen when they were without a host of front-line players.

They will field a much stronger line-up today as they bid to bounce back against Watsonians at Myreside.

But they will be up against a home outfit brimming with top-flight talent, especially in the batting department.

Aberdeenshire v Grange

Aberdeenshire are the only side whose campaign has not been blighted by the elements - and they have taken full advantage by winning both times.

Now they take on star-packed Grange, who have yet to taste league action.

On paper, the Edinburgh men will start as slight favourites at Mannofield, however the fact that the Dons have hit the ground running is likely to equalise matters and it should be an intriguing contest
