Cricket Scotland have today announced their squad for the upcoming CB40 match against Somerset .
The team will travel to Taunton in high spirits after an important victory over Canada at Ayr earlier this week (July 12th) as part of their ICC World Cricket League campaign; Scotland won by 4 wickets and were aided by a fantastic 99* from Calum MacLeod.
The team will hope to maintain their winning form but will have to make do without Gordon Drummond who misses out due to work commitments. Preston Mommsen will captain the team in his absence.
Having momentarily relieved some of the pressure of World Cup qualification with the victory over Canada, Scotland will hope to put on a good show when they travel down to the West Country for their latest CB40 clash.
The competition has so far offered a demanding test for Scotland as they sit fifth in their table as it stands, while Somerset have found life very difficult thus far, and find themselves bottom of the standings in seventh place. The match represents a real chance for Scotland to get some more points on the board and start thinking about moving up the table.
Ahead of the trip to Somerset, Pete Steindl commented, It was good to finally get some cricket in against Canada after the long layoff, due to the recent weather. We now have a busy couple of weeks in all formats of the game starting with our trip to Taunton. As always we know Somerset will be a challenging prospect but we are looking forward to returning to the CB40 competition.
It will provide the necessary preparation for our big games against Bangladesh and England in the coming weeks.
