Strabane's title hopes were dealt what could well be a fatal blow at the Rectory on Thursday night after the Red Caps failed by 28 runs to chase down the home side's 150 set the previous evening.
Resuming on 24 for 1 from 4 overs the visitors were rocked by the loss of professional Waqar Orakzai having added just 4 to his overnight score. The introduction of Stephen McCloskey however was to change the face of the game, the Glendermott spinner accounting for Strabane's middle order in his 4 overs to finish with 4 for 20.
Derek Lynch and Aaron Gillespie got Strabane back into it with a 50-run stand for the 8th wicket but it was to be another bowling change that was to end the contest. Gordon Montgomery threw the ball to Charlie Elder who claimed the final three wickets in his very first over as the Bonds Street team gave themselves a real chance of survival with a 28 run win.
