Terenure's second win of the season raises the real spectre of relegation for Clontarf who are anxiously looking over their shoulders now at Merrion and North County with less than two percent separating the sides.
Colm Morgan's 70 was the bedrock of a Terenure total of 184 for 7, with Zander van der Merwe (23) and Andre Botha (21) chipping in.
Joe Morrissey (3-31) and Mitch Watterson (2-22) were best with the ball for Clontarf.
Van der Merwe then took 4 for 26 to leave Clontarf in deep trouble, and with James Smith and Thomas taking two wickets apiece, Clontarf finished 27 runs adrift despite 25 from Morrissey and 21 from Eoghan Delany.
