2012 proved to be a quite historic one for the Belmont club as the Ulster Bank Premier League title was captured for the first time. A fitting reward for CIYMS after so much investment both off and on the field of play.
There's no doubt the club had serious depth to both their batting and bowling with quality players right through their ranks - something which wasn't evident in the majority of sides in the division.
Chris Dougherty overcame a horror start after his switch from Brigade to be their top run scorer. The left hand er enjoyed a quite prolific run of form as the title was secured, scoring a record breaking three consecutive hundreds. In total he made 632 runs at 42.13.
Ireland Women's coach Jeremy Bray was next in the aggregates making 529 at 66.12, while Barry Cooper chipped in with 428 at 26.75.
Taimur Khan made 323 at 24.85, while PJ Moor will be disappointed with 187 at 13.36 - his talent warrants a much better return than that.
Khan was the leading wicket taker with 28 at 14.61 and had the best bowling return of anyone in the entire country - his 8-21 helpimng demolish Bonds Glen in the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup.
Stephen Hughes also had the 3rd best analysis in the NCU region taking 6 for 24 against Carrickfergus, taking 26 at 13.96 in total. Zimbabwean Ryan Butterworth captured 24 at 19.46, while Ryan Adair chipped in with 15 at 23.80.
Irish international Peter Connell played just 7 times, getting 12 at 15.67, while Steve McChesney managed 11 at 16.36.
It will be interesting to see what 2013 brings for CIYMS - already there are serious murmurings of player defections, but if they can hold on to the bulk of their squad, they will be expected to be right amongst the trophies again.
