2012 brought a season of mid table mediocrity for the Park Avenue side who failed to bring home a major trophy after a relatively successful last few years.
They were clearly hampered by availability problems for both Kevin O'Brien and Kenny Caroll while Graham McDonnell continues his self imposed exile in his quest to become the next Rory McIlroy.
O'Brien managed just 7 appearances in the entire campaign, although he did score one of the two hundreds recorded by the club during his brief sojourn - Patrick Collins managed the other, but the batting frailties of the club as a whole are best exemplified by the fact that they managed just ten half centuries in the season - that's nowhere near the level required for successful top flight cricket.
Patrick Collins was the top run scorer with 555 at 37.00 - the second highest in Leinster cricket, while Tom Fisher wasn't anywhere near his most prolific but still managed to score 342 at 26.30.
The aforementioned O'Brien averaged 49 in making 294 runs, while Carroll chipped in with 219 at 31.28. Others worthy of a mention include Mo Tariq with 213 at 21.30 and Saad Ullah - 181 at 20.11.
Tariq was the big success story of the club as he topped the Leinster bowling averages with 28 at 13.36, while Greg Lambert will be relatively happy with his 21 at 17.57.
Collins enjoyed a fine all-round campaign as he took 19 wickets at 20.89, while O'Brien and Ullah took 15 wickets each at 15.60 and 24.27 respectively.
In the fielding stakes, Railway had five players in the top 20, with Kenny Carroll and Patrick Collins making it a Railway Union 1-2 with nine catches apiece.
Tom Fisher managed third place in the wicket-keeping table taking 14 catches and two stumpings.
It's hard to know just how 2013 will turn out for Railway. There's no doubt they have some very talented players but seem to suffer availaibility problems more than most. If they can get their best 11 out more often, then a more profitable season may well be the outcome.
